When I first saw that this would be a non-HEA, I was a tad bit sad, but at the same time, I love a realistic story where prince charming does not get the princess. Let me tell you what, Boone did not get the normal ending of a one-night stand. Rue did not sneak out the next morning leaving Boone with the memories of great sex and a good time. Instead, she unleashed her inner monster on him, creating a downward spiral all the way until the very end. With all that being said, K. T. still managed to throw some love in there with all the anguish going on. I was sad to see Boone go, but I sure loved imagining him walking away. If any of these details interest you, I would definitely recommend reading this novella!
