I didn't think I'd get much out of Atomic Habits but hoped for one or two interesting tidbits that I could incorporate into my life. Once you're as old as I am, you've heard so many tips and tricks and "life-changing advice" that there's rarely anything offered up in a self-help book that's new. But Atomic Habits surprised me. I've already incorporated one idea into my daily routine and feel good about it.
The thing I liked the most about the book is that the author doesn't pretend to be perfect or have it all figured out but he presents plenty of tiny real-life options that, when added together, can make big changes.

Written in a way that wasn't too overbearing. It was so enjoyable that it changed my view that self-help isn't for me because all of those I've managed to finish, while they were interesting in terms of the knowledge they gave, they didn't quite capture my attention. It bored me more than half the time. But for this book? I enjoyed it immensely. I'm half-tempted to go back to all the 5-star ratings I've given to them and change it to an average 3. This. This deserves all the stars. I've already begun making use of a method Clear has mentioned, and am finding it so useful. Look forward to see what other identities I can become as I continue to make use of what I've learnt.
There's a few reasons I don't read a lot of non-fiction: the biggest one is that I am simply not entertained. I like to read to relax and escape reality and sitting down after a long day to read about facts, is not my idea of fun or relaxing. With that being said, I do want to mix these types of books in because really interesting and helpful things can come from books just like this one. I have heard so much about this book so it was one I really wanted to check out. I'm not disappointed with it but it was simply just 'okay.' I am someone who loves order and loves when I am in a routine; a creature of habit, so a lot of the information we get from reading this one was fairly obvious knowledge to me. I did take away some good tips but overall it wasn't anything I didn't know. I would recommend this to anyone who feels they live in chaos or have a tough time sticking with something in their life because outside of how I might've felt about it, I do believe this is a super helpful book to a lot of people.
The framework for every goal to pursue.
Most importantly the relationship between identity & behaviour
