About Wine for an Hour Book Club
Wine for an Hour Book Club
21+, of course. EVERYONE is welcome, even book club newbies!
Wine for an Hour is now branching out into the literary world with a BOOK CLUB, hosted by me, Natasha, that you do not want to miss! I value different perspectives. You won’t get called out or forced to answer, ever. I created a small book club for us to read, analyze and ponder over every detail in books. A place where we truly understand what the author was is trying to convey. My discussion questions tackle the connection of themes, motives, how a character’s childhood affect their choices, and our ability to empathize with even the worst characters. I prepare all presentations and discussion questions from scratch, so that you will see the warmness of my love of books in everything that I make. There is always room for healthy disagreement and opposing viewpoints.
Wine for an Hour Book Club will focus on breaking up the current book into segments to read over two week. I will always try to at least provide a free, legal PDF of the book. You can participate in our book discussion via text based discussion and/or virtual discussion! For virtual discussions, we meet biweekly, on Sundays @ 2pm EST. After the virtual discussion, text based discussion will be opened (No spoilers this way!). Virtual and Text based discussion will have the same discussion questions, so you never have to worry about if you’re missing anything. If you choose to participate in our virtual discussion, you can join with or without cam and with or without voice. There is a chat, as well, that you can type any answers so that I can read them aloud.
You can join NOW and vote for our next book! Voting ends on Oct 5th. Our new book will be read between Oct 6th and Oct 18th, with Virtual and Text-based discussion will begin on Oct 19th @ 2pm EST! Remember, text based discussion will remain open, indefinitely so you can jump in at any time for discussion.
The Book Club is hosted on Discord. Discord is very easy and simple to use! If you require a brief rundown on navigating Discord, I will personally give you instructions, if you reach out. Also, if you want to try out our club for free, please let me know via email and I’ll be happy to share the Discord link with you.
Who I am looking for: I want you to show up with an open mind. If you’ve never joined a book club before, let me set the standard on what to expect, moving forward. Our members are all from different walks of life but come together because of our love of books and need for an escape from our busy lives. We occasionally have text based chat throughout the week. We have channels to discuss poetry, wine, general chat, texted based games, and more!
Best,
Natasha
New Book: Notes on a Scandal [What Was She Thinking?]
Please do not look up any other summaries, as they contain spoilers.
Summary: Trigger Warning: (Teacher/student, but little to no graphic description. It’s more so looking at everyone’s motivations.) Schoolteacher Barbara Covett has led a solitary life until Sheba Hart, the new art teacher at St. George's, befriends her. But even as their relationship develops, so too does another: Sheba has begun an illicit affair with an underage male student. When the scandal turns into a media circus, Barbara decides to write an account in her friend's defense—and ends up revealing not only Sheba's secrets, but also her own.
I am PLEASED to announce that I will provide the PDF, EPUB and FULL audio book for you!
Our first discussion was full of laughs, heartache, crying, respect and more. It was everything that I wanted from a book club. Notes on a Scandal is not as ‘emotionally heavy’ as an American Marriage, but I would love to hear your take on everyone’s motives. If you know anyone that wants to participate in this new experience, please let me know, DM me, email me, and I will send them a link to the Discord.
Between September 8th - September 20th, Please read Chapters 1 - 8. Virtual and text based discussion will be held on September 21st.
Between September 22nd - October 4th, Please read Chapters 9 - 18. Virtual and text based discussion will be held on October 5th.
**Notes on a Scandal THE MOVIE will be streamed on October 10th, 11th and 12th. More information: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wine-for-an-hour-book-club-meet-me-mini-wine-lesson-and-movie-stream-registration-1732230390729** Let me know that you're interested and I will let you join for free!
