About The Imaginarium
The theme of this club is imagining other worlds. Be it an alternative history of our world, an imaginary world full of magic, or a new future for society based on intellectual theory. You will find stories of adventure and struggle here, but also hope for an inclusive, diverse, kinder world. We will read primarily fantasy, including adult, young adult, and children’s fiction, but also nonfiction, humor, and anything which creates the sense of thoughtful inspiration the Imaginarium seeks to promote. By reading, we can imagine new worlds for ourselves and our future. Each of our texts will be engaging and fun to read, but also intelligent and thought-provoking.
We will meet on the first (or sometimes second) Sunday of the month at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time via Zoom. In our meetings, we will do a deep dive into the book and relate it to our world as well. Passionate discussion and intellectual inquiry is encouraged. This is a safe space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ readers, so discussions will be monitored and anyone making a meeting unsafe will be promptly removed.
