About 📖✨ Sacred Spines ✨📖
Sacred Spines is a contemplative book club for readers who want to move slowly and deeply through stories that have the power to transform us. Together, we read with the attentiveness often reserved for sacred texts—lingering over symbols, themes, and story arcs to uncover spiritual insight, examine moral complexity, and seek deeper truths about what it means to live at the center of our own stories. This is a space for thoughtful reflection, honest conversation, and encountering fiction not merely as entertainment, but as nourishment for the soul that can help us move more purposefully through the world.
Each week, we read one chapter and engage the text through a different spiritual practice drawn from a variety of faith traditions— Lectio Divina, Havruta, Sacred Imagination, Florilegia, PaRDeS, Marginalia, the Four Reliances* — to deepen our encounter with the story and with ourselves. We close each gathering by offering a blessing for a character or in response to a situation from the chapter, carrying the wisdom of the text with us into our own lives.
I ask that you read this blog prior to beginning if you have any questions about the appropriateness of this series selection: https://meaganfaraonelcsw.com/post/sacred-spines-spiritual-bibliotherapy-for-reflection-renewal-and-reclamation-hpst
*Please be mindful that while this is a group engaging in spiritual bibliotherapy, this is not therapy, is not to be a replacement for therapy, and doesn't establish any type of therapeutic relationship.
