About Redeeming Reads
Redeeming Reads is a Christian book club dedicated to growth, healing, and fellowship. Here, we’ll explore powerful nonfiction, historical/biblical fiction, and self-help books through a biblical lens, creating a space where faith, friendship, and community come together. Whether you’re looking for inspiring reads, meaningful discussions, or a deeper connection with like-minded individuals, Redeeming Reads offers the opportunity to grow spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. Join us as we dive into books that encourage transformation, healing, and the power of God’s Word in our lives. Whether it’s a book club, a Bible study, or simply a place for fellowship, we invite you to be part of something truly special!
What kind of books do we read?
Christian inspired
“All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be completely equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
When and where do we meet?
We meet once a month, via zoom, however, will keep a steady line of communication and discussion. This will give you a month to read the book + an opportunity to have biblical discussions throughout the weeks.
“Iron sharpers iron, and one man sharpens another.”
Proverbs 27:17
What if I don’t like or don’t finish the book?
Show up to book club anyway! This isn’t about reading as many books as possible or having a speech ready for discussion. While those are great and ambitious goals, our main motivation is to have a space to come together, learn about ourselves and the Word, have healthy conversation and discussion, and being open to hearing differing and like perspectives. Before it is a book club, this is a space for fellowship.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Hebrews 10:23-25
How do we pick what book we’re reading each month?
Each person will have the opportunity to pick out a book. We will pick a host in advance to host book club each month. The host will choose and announce a Christian inspired book for the next month’s meeting at the end of the current meeting. There is a section on our profile for “book recommendations” or “books we would like to read.” Anyone is welcome to add books to the list or choose one of the recommendations for their month.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, it will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8
How many members are in the club?
We would like to keep our club fairly small, however there is always room for growth and improvement. We will never turn away someone that is wanting fellowship and to serve God. If you would like to invite a friend, please reach out to administrators and they can help get them set up with the club! Whether smaller or larger, we want to keep space to feel heard, loved, and prayed for.
“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him- a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
What if someone says something during discussion that rubs me the wrong way?
While we encourage members to share their perspectives and experiences, there is a potential risk to this happening with so many different life experiences present. Our goal is for all members to be able to share without fear of judgement, and to have an open heart while hearing others’ opinions. This is a Godly space, and we will not tolerate hate speech of any kind. It is not in our position to judge anyone for their experiences or beliefs. Keep language respectful and discussion healthy. If this does happen and isn’t addressed in the moment, please reach out to administrators and we will do our best to correct the situation. This should be a safe space for everyone.
“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”
Ephesians 4:29
