About Power in Prose
In celebration of high vibrations and Black women’s voices, we're inviting book lovers to join an in-person book club called “Power in Prose” based in Charlotte, NC.
If you believe in the power of books to heal, encourage growth, bring joy, and enlighten, this may be the perfect book club for you. If you’re interested in creating nourishing connections and community around your love of reading, while examining beautiful works of fiction, this is definitely the perfect book club for you.
What are potential books on the reading list?
We use polling to select books with a focus on themes such as identity, community-building, love, compassion, wellness, etc. We primarily read contemporary fiction spanning different genres. We're also open to member suggestions for classic fiction and new nonfiction written by Black women (think Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Nedra Glover Tawwab, Tricia Hersey).
When & Where We Meet
We typically meet on the last Saturday of every month. Polling is used to determine the best time for everyone. Our meetings usually take place at The People's Market in Elizabeth, but venue recommendations for coffee shops, cafes and bookstores around Charlotte are always welcome.
