Hyphenated Reads is more than just a book club. t’s a space where first-generation readers explore identity, culture, and belonging through stories that reflect our in-between experiences. We read books that navigate immigration, ethnicity, family, and self-discovery, featuring authors like Rachel Khong, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Trevor Noah, Khaled Hosseini and more. Meetings: We meet about every 6 weeks (virtually or in-person) and we go beyond traditional book discussions. Our club is multi-faceted, combining books with creative & immersive experiences. ✨ What Makes Us Unique: 📚🎨 Books & Crafts – We bring books to life with hands-on creative projects inspired by our reads. 📚🍽️ Books & Brunch – We pair our discussions with themed meals that reflect the book’s culture. 📚🎬 Books & Movies – We read, then watch the film adaptation to compare and discuss. 📚✍🏾 Books & Writing – We explore our own voices through journaling and storytelling exercises.
