Yinka, Where Is Your Huzband?: A Novel

“Yinka is a lovable and relatable disaster—which is to say, she isn’t actually a disaster at all...I adore her.”—Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Book Lovers
“Feel good, funny, and clever, it’s got smash-hit written all over it!” –Josie Silver, New York Times bestselling author of One Day in December
Meet Yinka: a thirty-something, Oxford-educated, British Nigerian woman with a well-paid job, good friends, and a mother whose constant refrain is “Yinka, where is your huzband?”
Yinka’s Nigerian aunties frequently pray for her delivery from singledom, her work friends think she’s too traditional (she’s saving herself for marriage!), her girlfriends think she needs to get over her ex already, and the men in her life…well, that’s a whole other story. But Yinka herself has always believed that true love will find her when the time is right.
Still, when her cousin gets engaged, Yinka commences Operation Find-A-Date for Rachel's Wedding. Aided by a spreadsheet and her best friend, Yinka is determined to succeed. Will Yinka find herself a huzband? And what if the thing she really needs to find is herself?
Yinka, Where is Your Huzband? is a fresh, uplifting story of an unconventional heroine who bravely asks the questions we all have about love. Wry, moving, irresistible, this is a love story that makes you smile but also makes you think--and explores what it means to find your way between two cultures, both of which are yours.

Cute. I love the reminder for women to love themselves and I also appreciate the insight of mental health for both men and women.
Loved it! I laughed many times reading about the antics Yinka got into in this book
This book was a bit slow, but totally worth the read! Where I thought it was going to have a focus of typical Nigerian parents pushing their daughter to find a husband, it was so much more than that. Yinka went through the struggles that we all do - trying to find love, wondering why we can't find it, are we ever worth finding love, losing ourselves then finding ourselves all through the journey. I LOVED the way they mention how being light or dark skinned can affect your self worth as a black woman in this world and how Yinka worked through therapy (something that has been largely stigmatized and taboo within the black community) to help find herself and realize her worth and beauty. I honestly was not expecting to love the way the book concluded, especially considering how it was starting off slow, but I'm so glad I kept going and continued on the journey with Yinka.
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book. Super relatable FMC. Sheâs a hot mess and has the best self deprecating humor to partner her messy life with. Complex relationships with moms, sisters, cousins. I loved it!
This is a funny book. I’ve know a few Yinkas in my lifetime and this book is so relatable. I love how the author injects humor into aspects of being a woman of a “certain” age who have are not married. A great book to read and share with friends.
