When You Are Mine

From the USA Today bestselling author of Before I Let Go comes a powerful, "achingly beautiful" (A.L. Jackson) novel of one woman on the brink of making a decision that will change her life forever.

Kerris Moreton knows how to make things work. Bounced from foster home to foster home as a kid, she adapted; when opportunity arose, she thrived. Now, about to open her own business and accept a marriage proposal, Kerris is ready to build the life she's always wanted. The only thing missing? A passionate connection with her would-be fiance, Cam. Kerris wants to believe that sparks are overrated-until Walsh Bennett lights her up like the Fourth of July.

As one of the East Coast's most eligible bachelors, Walsh enjoys financial independence, fulfilling work with his family's nonprofit, and plenty of female attention. But lately he's been distracted by the one woman he can't have. Lovely to look at and even sweeter to know, Kerris is the soul mate Walsh never thought he would find. The problem is, his best friend found her first.

This is an emotional story that explores love, loyalty, and resilience. Kerris the protagonist—strong, independent, and grappling with a past that still haunts her. Cam is charismatic yet burdened by his own insecurities and the weight of expectations, while Walsh stands out as the loyal and protective best friend whose love for Kerris is both heartbreaking and beautiful. Ryan excels at creating complex relationships and exploring the tension between love, friendship, and personal growth. Although a few plot points felt slightly repetitive, the emotional payoff made it all worthwhile. A beautifully written romance with unforgettable characters that will stay with you after the final page (partially because you NEED to go to the next book to finish their story 😅).

Kennedy Ryan once again proves her brilliance as a storyteller in When You Are Mine, a gripping and emotionally layered novel that explores the delicate balance between friendship, loyalty, and love. This book delivers a poignant tale that stays with you long after turning the final page. The story raises an intense and thought-provoking question: Could you walk away from the love of your life for the sake of friendship? As the characters navigate the murky waters of loyalty and desire, Ryan’s nuanced writing vividly portrays the emotional turmoil, moral dilemmas, and sheer weight of their choices. What makes When You Are Mine so impactful is the depth of its characters. Their struggles feel real, their pain palpable, and their connections undeniably heartfelt. Kennedy Ryan doesn’t shy away from diving into the complexities of human relationships, making this story resonate on a deeply personal level. At its core, this is a tale of how love—romantic, platonic, and selfless—tests the heart. Ryan’s exquisite prose and ability to evoke raw emotion are unmatched, leaving readers both heartbroken and hopeful. As a devoted fan of Kennedy Ryan, I can confidently say this book is yet another testament to her talent for crafting stories that challenge, inspire, and move readers. When You Are Mine is a beautifully written and thought-provoking novel that will captivate anyone who loves stories of passion, sacrifice, and the enduring power of love.

Not sure I liked this story. It was sort of frustrating to read. I guess not every story can have a neat ending. The author did capture how complicated relationships could be. I was literally upset with the one of the main characters, Walsh. He's a horrible person...selfish. I wanted to throw something at him. Maybe it was a good story afterall lol.

I picked this up not knowing anything about it. I just enjoy Kennedy Ryan's books. That said, this one disappointed me. It felt long and drawn out and eventually became hella predictable and so repetitive. I was glad when it was over. The whole "I love her/ him but I can never do anything about it" thing got annoying and felt so childish. Don't think I'll continue the series.
