Viscount Who Loved Me, The (Bridgertons Book 2)

Description

# 1 New York Times Bestseller

The inspiration for season two of BRIDGERTON, a series created by Shondaland for Netflix, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn: the story of Anthony Bridgerton in the second of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family.

ANTHONY'S STORY

This time the gossip columnists have it wrong. London's most elusive bachelor Anthony Bridgerton hasn't just decided to marry--he's even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended's older sister, Kate Sheffield--the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate's the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams...

Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands--and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate's determined to protect her sister--but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony's lips touch hers, she's suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself...

Normally, enemies to lovers is a trope I try to avoid, purely because I very rarely see it played out well, and I am a much bigger fan of the friends to lovers to trope. However, once again, Julia Quinn has created a beautiful exception to this rule, in the form of the Viscount Who Loved Me.

Honestly the book is better than the show but the show included a less abusive predator like Anthony!

Im not a fan of books where the woman is completely humiliated and broken down in the name of a man allegedly being in love.

In the show, they kept each other on their toes with a competiveness but the book she was clever and he would go for the jugular.

I wish I could give this book a 3.5. It wasn't terrible, but the first book was definitely better. In my opinion, it didn't live up to the hype. Hoping that the rest of this series matches the energy of the first book.

i love this couple compared to daphne and simon, but the book is incredibly lacking. the end was a bit eh, and they were enemies for like 4 chapters compared to the tv show. i am so happy that the series had a different ending and more depth. still a really good book though!
