A Man Called Ove meets The Good Place in Under the Whispering Door, a delightful queer love story from TJ Klune, author of the New York Times and USA Today bestseller The House in the Cerulean Sea.
The tea is hot, the scones are fresh, and the dead are just passing through. When a reaper comes to collect Wallace from his own funeral, Wallace begins to suspect he might be dead. And when Hugo, the owner of a peculiar tea shop, promises to help him cross over, Wallace decides he's definitely dead. But even in death he's not ready to abandon the life he barely lived, so when Wallace is given one week to cross over, he sets about living a lifetime in seven days. Hilarious, haunting, and kind, Under the Whispering Door is an uplifting story about a life spent at the office and a death spent building a home.

Would have made an amazing short story. Questions answered with questions answered with I don't know and it's good to not know... May be okay in life but super monotonous in a book.

Ok book, just dragged on and couldn't keep my attention. I switched from the physical book and listened to the audio book hoping it would be better and it was still a struggle to stay focused on the story.
How readers feel about romcoms and beach read fluff is how I feel about this book. It was a pleasant surprise that came across my library selection that I really ended up enjoying. Taking it purely as a light fun mindless read to simply enjoy as a creative space in the afterlife, following the characters of the Charon's Crossing tea shop through their humor, frustration, and light hearted emotions made me feel just as carefree and mystical. I wish my work days were as joyful and adventurous.
