Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass, 6)

A glorious empire. A desperate quest. An ancient secret.

The search for allies extends to a new land in the sixth book of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.

Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq have arrived in the shining city of Antica to forge an alliance with the Khagan of the Southern Continent, whose vast armies are Erilea's last hope. But they have also come to Antica for another purpose: to seek healing at the famed Torre Cesme for the wounds Chaol received in Rifthold.

After enduring unspeakable horrors as a child at the hands of Adarlanian soldiers, Yrene Towers has no desire to help the young lord from Adarlan, let alone heal him. Yet she has sworn an oath to assist those in need, and she will honor it. But Lord Westfall carries his own dark past, and Yrene soon realizes that those shadows could engulf them both.

Chaol, Nesryn, and Yrene will have to draw on every scrap of their resilience to overcome the danger that surrounds them. But while they become entangled in the political webs of the khaganate, long-awaited answers slumber deep in the mountains, where warriors soar on legendary ruks. Answers that might offer their world a chance at survival . . . or doom them all.

The final battle looms in this sixth book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series.

'Tower of Dawn'. 'Tower of Dawn'. I read this one chronologically right and let's just say it's a little bit of an emotional let down. It was tough to get into at first but it did really grow on me. Although disappointing to not have the characters we love in this one, the ones we meet during this book can be equally as captivating.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ tower of dawn surprised me in the best way. i didn’t tandem read it with empire of storms like a lot of people do and honestly, i’m glad. giving this book space made the emotional impact so much stronger. the shift in tone felt natural instead of jarring, and reading it on its own gave chaol’s journey the weight it truly deserved. this wasn’t a side quest, it was a full, layered redemption arc packed with growth, pain, and purpose. chaol’s healing arc was so powerful. it wasn’t just about his body but it was about the shame and guilt he’s been dragging behind him for so long finally getting cracked open. there were lines that hit like a punch to the chest, and scenes that made me tear up more than once. and yrene was there for every step. her strength and kindness weren’t just refreshing, they were necessary. their dynamic was slow-building and emotionally earned in a way that made me fully root for them. the worldbuilding here is so underrated. antica was rich and beautifully crafted including the culture, the politics, and the rukhin were incredible. it opened the world up and made the looming war feel even bigger. nesryn’s POV brought adventure and freedom, and i loved her slow burn relationship with sartaq! every character had their own space to shine, and the pacing gave everything room to develop without ever dragging. so many people skip or rush through this one, but tower of dawn is easily one of the most emotionally rewarding books in the series. it’s about reckoning with the past, choosing growth, and believing you’re still worthy of love even when you’re at your lowest. it’s quieter, but it’s louder in its heart. this might be an unpopular opinion but i absolutely love and cherish this book!

I am torn with this review and breaks my heart to give it 3⭐️ because the other books have been stellar but this book was very slow. Like SLOOW for a 700 page book! I did not see why we followed the other continent but I assume its for kingdom of ash set up.

****spoilers***

While I love chaol and his adventures but does it justify 700? No I dont think so and I see why people tandem read. I dont think its necessary for the first read but I will admit for my future re read of this, I will 100% tandem read. Also can we talk about how amazing my girl Yrene is? Yess girl i love that chaol has found his other half.

I did the tandom read and honestly I don’t think I could have done it any other way. Both books were good but TOD had a slower pace and more story building because there were less points of view which I liked. I loved getting to know Chaol better and don’t get the hate on him. It really picked up in the last 200 pages and bombs were dropped. Overall good book. 3.2 ⭐️
