Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, 1)

Lethal. Loyal. Legendary.

Enter the world of Throne of Glass with the first book in the #1 bestselling series by Sarah J. Maas.

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King's Champion.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. And a princess from a faraway country will befriend her. But something rotten dwells in the castle, and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying mysteriously, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival-and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Thrilling and fierce, Throne of Glass is the first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series that has captivated readers worldwide.

Great little mystery in a fantasy series. Can’t wait for Celaena to explore the glass castle some more in the next book.

Might love this series more than ACOTAR🫣🤭 The beginning was a bit hard for me to follow with all of the new characters and places but I LOVED THIS ONE. My first kindle read :,)

There’s a lot of groundwork done within “Throne of Glass”, which you’d typically expect to make it a bit of a dull read, but this was anything but dull. From the beginning, I was absolutely captivated, nearly in the same way I was when I read “A Court of Thorns and Roses”. Mass knows how to craft compelling characters and create dynamic situations that make you want to continue reading. I was honestly anticipating this to be like the ACOTAR series, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that, thus far, it is something different, which is refreshing! I cannot wait to get deeper into this series, since I am very curious to see where we go from here.

So, I was feeling some withdrawal after I finished ACOTAR. I missed it so much, and so the first hundred pages of TOG was just kinda frustrating at first. They are two completely different series. However, with a little more time and a little more reading, I let myself open up to this book and its possibilities, and man, am I not disappointed. I have lots of questions that I'm sure will be answered as I continue the series.

I'm very curious about Dorian and I couldn't help but feel so sorry for him by the end. He fell in love with the most dangerous assassin in the land. He has such honest and raw thoughts that I wanted her to fall for him, too. I know Calaena likes him and finds him attractive, but I don't think her feelings are as deep as his. I'm curious where their relationship will go.

I thought the final battle between Calaena and Cain was GUT-WRENCHING. Oh my gosh, I hated reading it. It made me cringe and wince and made me genuinely so angry. So glad Cain was killed.

I ADORE Calaena and Nehemia's friendship. Sisterhood is one of my favorite tropes and Sarah loves to write them - I'll eat it up every time.

Uhm, Chaol? Calaena may not be able to have a relationship with the prince, but the Captain of the Guard? Are there any rules about that? Also, I find it both questionable and funny how Calaena clearly toys with Chaol and Dorian's feelings. So shameless; all her interactions with them are flirty and she constantly brings up their attractiveness.

THE KING KNOWS ABOUT THE WYRDMARKS. Also, is Calaena part Fae? Possibly hinted at by Elena? I am loving the set up for the world and magic and demons and creatures from other realms. So interesting.

A very strong start to this super popular series. Onward with the Sarah J. Maas binge read!
