Couldn't. Stop. Reading. I am a relatively new Romantasy/fantasy reader and I am completely sold! I've struggled to get through the other books on my nightstand since this change in genre. I keep going back to them! The fourth book of this series was not as good as the others, but it still left me wanting more, and I was glad to have another book to read in the series. In this genre, I recently read and loved Magic for Liars, the Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries series, and of course, Rebecca Yarros' Fourth Wing books.

I was half-heartedly in to the first book for 75% of it and then the last 1/4 drew me IN. I DEVOURED (and sobbed) my way through the second book. The series trailed off for me after that.

I didn’t just read ACOTAR—I experienced it. Somewhere between the first book and the last, my personality shifted, my standards got higher, and my emotional stability took a direct hit. Sarah J. Maas didn’t just write a fantasy romance—she built an entire world that pulls you in and refuses to let go. From the Spring Court to the Night Court, every setting feels vivid, magical, and just dangerous enough to keep you hooked. And the deeper you go into the series, the more layered and expansive everything becomes. What really makes this series hit is the evolution. The characters grow in ways that feel raw and real. You watch them break, heal, fall apart, and rebuild stronger—and somehow you’re right there with them, feeling every bit of it. The relationships? Elite. Not just romance (which is top-tier, slow-burn, emotionally wrecking perfection), but the friendships—the found family—is what makes this series unforgettable. The banter, the loyalty, the “I would burn the world for you” energy… it lives rent-free in my head. And let’s be honest—this series will absolutely ruin your expectations for fictional men forever. There are moments that will have you kicking your feet, moments that will emotionally gut you, and moments where you’ll just sit there staring at the page like, “Well… I’ll never recover from that.” Final verdict: This series is addictive, emotional, dramatic, romantic, and just the right amount of unhinged. It’s not perfect—but it doesn’t need to be. It feels big, and that’s what makes it unforgettable. Side effects may include: Obsessing over characters, rereading favorite scenes at 2 a.m., aggressively recommending it to everyone you know, and realizing your brain chemistry has, in fact, been permanently altered.
