It was the perfect blend of hilarious situations, romantic moments and beautiful chaos. I loved the idea of a marriage summer camp, completed with fun activities and playing Never Have I Ever by the camp fire.

This will be a book I reread every year!

One thing I noticed right away was that the author seems to have a familiar writing style, especially in the way she sets up the story. The whole game competition element reminded me a lot of her other book I read, How My Neighbor Stole Christmas. While the settings are different, the overall plot pattern felt quite similar. It made me realize this might be her go-to style, which I can appreciate, but it did make the story feel a little predictable. The banter between the characters was fun and kept me entertained, but honestly, the spice was a bit much for me, especially towards the last quarter of the book. It became overwhelming, and I found myself wishing for a bit more balance.

In a way I don’t even know what to say about this book. It was so quirky and chaotic at points but somehow it all worked. Scottie wasn’t my favorite FMC at the beginning. You can tell she’s been through a lot but she was a bit uptight while also being a hot mess all at once. Her character grew on me significantly though. Whereas I loved Wilder from the get go because he was FREAKING ADORABLE! Wilder is the definition of a book boyfriend... there is too much perfect going on in one man here but I ate it up! Plus I’m always down for the fake dating/marriage trope. I do want to note there might not be a ton of explicitly spicy chapters but there is a ton of references to sex so if that’s not your thing, this might not be the summer romance you want to pick up. Me, on the other hand, didn’t mind a single second of it 😏

Till Summer Do Us Part follows Scottie Price after a panicked workplace lie traps her inside a fake marriage with Wilder Wells. Wilder is her best friend’s wealthy and improv-obsessed brother. Their first counseling appointment spirals into an eight-day marriage retreat with Scottie’s coworkers. They end up sharing a cabin and performing relationship exercises that begin to expose real attraction and unresolved pain. The plot had plenty of romantic comedy potential. A fake husband, forced proximity, one bed, and a summer retreat should have created an entertaining escape. The characters’ constant sexual commentary and juvenile humor made much of the book feel like listening to high school students trying to shock each other. Wilder’s lip ring and emo-inspired appearance also made him difficult to picture as an appealing adult romantic lead. Scottie’s workplace created another major obstacle to my enjoyment of the story. Camping with coworkers at a marriage retreat felt wildly inappropriate when the activities pushed employees to discuss sex and private relationship problems together. Sanders was cruel, invasive, and painfully familiar as the coworker whose behavior poisons an entire workplace while leadership allows it to continue. His presence added frustration for me. The length made the writing's weakness more noticeable. Scenes stretched long past their natural stopping points, jokes continued after they had lost their humor, and the retreat began to feel endless. I repeatedly lost focus because the book seemed determined to extend situations that had already made their point. Scottie and Wilder became more relatable near the conclusion. Wilder softened his exaggerated performance and showed real feelings for Scottie. Scottie confronted the damage caused by her former husband, Matt. Their growth gave the final chapters a relationship that began to feel more adult. Don't let my opinions stop you from trying out this book. Pick up Till Summer Do Us Part if you enjoy outrageous sexual humor, exaggerated characters, workplace comedy, and lengthy fake-marriage romances.
