Bridesmaid for Hire

By Meghan Quinn

USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn is back with a hilarious new rom-com series.

Sometimes the wedding of the century calls for desperate measures.

And sometimes those desperate measures are to pretend the person you hate most is actually your boyfriend.

After years of working her tail off at her event-planning business, Maggie Mitchell is ready for a vacation. With nothing on her mind but R & R, she's enjoying the warm weather of Bora Bora when in saunters Brody McFadden, her brother's best friend and also her sworn enemy. Thanks to years of tension between the two--kicked off by a make-out session at her brother's wedding that ended horribly--Maggie has sworn to stay away from the man. That is, until she finds out he's in Bora Bora for his boss's daughter's wedding, hoping to use the trip to win a real future at the company.

Maggie promised herself she wouldn't even think of work on the island, but as word spreads about the "wedding of the century" taking place in the midst of her vacation, she realizes offering her services as a bridesmaid and planner could bring her business to the next level. The only catch? She needs to pose as Brody's girlfriend to get the job...while letting him stay in her peaceful bungalow.

Tensions rise, irritation flairs, and despite years' worth of bickering behind closed doors, Maggie can't quite squash the sparks building between her and her new fake boyfriend, especially when she learns the real reason their first kiss was cut short. But as the wedding day draws closer and everything starts to go wrong, it just might be Brody who sends Maggie's business crashing down--and her heart along with it.

*Bridesmaid for Hire* by Meghan Quinn uses the forced proximity and fake boyfriend tropes, but unfortunately, it falls flat. The male character, Brody, feels unbelievable and is often put in cringeworthy situations, which undermines the chemistry and humor. While there are some charming moments, the overall execution is lacking. If you enjoy these tropes, you might find some enjoyment, but don't expect a deeply satisfying romance.

Sun, sand, and spite-fueled romance. What more could a girl fake-ask for?

description

Well, well, well. If it isn’t another enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating, forced-proximity, big misunderstanding, surprise feelings—every rom-com buzzword packed into one tropical piña colada of a book. But did I eat it up like overpriced resort buffet pancakes? You bet I did.

Maggie just wanted a vacation. Enter Brody, aka her nemesis-with-irresistible-abs, crashing her peace like a shirtless hurricane. Naturally, the only logical solution is to pretend to be dating said nemesis so she can sneak into a wedding and casually revamp her career. As one does.

Their banter? Top-tier verbal warfare. The chemistry? Let’s just say the tension was thicker than the humidity in Bora Bora. I could practically hear the sizzling whenever they shared a beach chair—or an insult.

Sure, Maggie’s big “business breakthrough” plan was held together with wishful thinking and sunscreen, and Brody’s whole “I’m a misunderstood softie” act took a minute to show up, but when it did? Swoon city. Population: me and every fictional bridesmaid they roped into these shenanigans.

Would I fake date my worst enemy to plan a wedding on a remote island and accidentally fall in love? Absolutely not. Would I read about it while aggressively sipping iced coffee and yelling “JUST KISS ALREADY”? You bet.

Highly recommended for beach reads, fans of unresolved tension, and anyone who enjoys a good love story with just the right amount of mutual loathing.
