Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn't normally do. But there's something about Drew Nichols that's too hard to resist.

On the eve of his ex's wedding festivities, Drew is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend....

After Alexa and Drew have more fun than they ever thought possible, Drew has to fly back to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon, and Alexa heads home to Berkeley, where she's the mayor's chief of staff. Too bad they can't stop thinking about the other....

They're just two high-powered professionals on a collision course toward the long distance dating disaster of the century--or closing the gap between what they think they need and what they truly want....

Fun bit of candy. Easy read for someone who is just getting back into ready after a really, really long time. Works well as a palate cleanse.

Fun romance with a believable Black woman at the center. Predictable, but sometimes that’s enjoyable. It moved fast, and I was rooting for them the whole way.

Jasmine Guillory's writing just doesn't do it for me. So bad it takes me out of the story. This is maybe my 2nd or third attempt at reading one of her books because the stories sound interesting but I think an editor really needs to step it up - she has compelling stories and characters but the writing is just not good.

Cute, fun, and pretty well-written romance. A nice way to pass the time if you're trying to stop thinking about a pandemic. I loved the main character, Alexa.
