Abby, after enduring years of failed infertility treatments and adoptions, is offered a chance at motherhood when her personal assistant, Monica, volunteers to be a surrogate. As the pregnancy progresses, Abby begins to notice unsettling behaviors from Monica, including possessive actions and manipulative tactics that suggest Monica has a hidden agenda. The situation escalates when Abby uncovers Monica's true intentions, leading to a tragic outcome and leaving Abby to navigate the aftermath of betrayal and loss. Guess who guessed the twist??? ME! Partially, but still. Freida did it again for me. This book was quick, thrilly, and left me super invested in finding out what the heck was going on! Freida is known for her unreliable characters, and I love it every time. Something Freida does really well, is make you care about the characters. She gives you reason to empathize with them, feel for them, and root for them. I find it’s always everyone else in the book that sucks. I enjoyed this book so much, I felt kinda funny for not having given it a chance before. I read the republished version with the cover you see above and I have to be honest-one of the reasons I hadn’t read it previously was bc the cover just wasn’t it for me. Oops. Which book did you judge the cover on only for it to end up being really good? I can name a few! Trigger Warnings: Infidelity, infertility, pregnancy loss, miscarriage, emotional manipulation, gaslighting, grief

Full of twists and turns this book was ssooo good! What starts as a sweet offer and good deal on both ends, turns into a very bad idea.
