The Murder House
Detective Jenna Murphy comes to the Hamptons to solve a murder -- but what she finds is more deadly than she could ever imagine.
Trying to escape her troubled past and rehabilitate a career on the rocks, former New York City cop Jenna Murphy hardly expects her lush and wealthy surroundings to be a hotbed of grisly depravity. But when a Hollywood power broker and his mistress are found dead in the abandoned Murder House, the gruesome crime scene rivals anything Jenna experienced in Manhattan. And what at first seems like an open and shut case turns out to have as many shocking secrets as the Murder House itself, as Jenna quickly realizes that the mansion's history is much darker than even the town's most salacious gossips could have imagined.
As more bodies surface, and the secret that Jenna has tried desperately to escape closes in on her, she must risk her own life to expose the truth-before the Murder House claims another victim. Full of the twists and turns that have made James Patterson the world's #1 bestselling writer, The Murder House is a chilling, page-turning story of murder, money, and revenge.

I'm usually pretty good at guessing the "who dun'it?" answer, but this one threw me for a loop every chapter! The urge to turn to the last page and spoil it for myself just to see if I was right was so hard to overcome! Highly recommend for your next beach trip!
If you like James Patterson you will definitely like this book. You honestly feel that anyone could be the killer and there is a feeling of constant danger. The chapters written in the killer's point of view make you feel unnerved, which is what you would expect when looking into the mind of a killer. One issue with this book is it tends to drag a bit towards the end, but that is common in some of James Patterson's books. The other issue was that Jenna kept accusing the same guy so many times that it was very obvious that he was not the really the killer. I also would not recommend listening to the audio book version. The two voice actors can distract you from the story a lot when they are reading the opposite genders lines. There were many times where I found myself laughing at the performance during parts of the book that were supposed to be serious parts.
