I'm reading the series again, and honestly, once you know what's coming, all the books between Heated Rivalry and The Long Game are just hard core Ilya edging, and The Long Game is even more rewarding the second time around.
I'm doing a reread after watching the Heated Rivalry show and now that I have faces to names every book is better. Even the first book with Scott and Kip is better after watching the show.
I'm doing this series reread in Jan 2026 and Rachel just announced Unrivaled yesterday, which is basically going to be Heated Rivalry book 3 and I am beside myself with happiness.

It's the completion of Ilya and Shane, and it's perfect.
The guys go through it in this one. Rachel makes them earn their keep. It was very emotional at times.
I couldn't get enough of them! I need at least three more chapters of epilogue!
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is amazing!
The previous books have all been 3rd person so I think this was too, but its so well done that I can't remember being "out of body" like so many 3rd person books are so it may as well have been 1st person. It was definitely 2 POVs

Le sigh. I wanted to love The Long Game like I loved Heated Rivalry. But it just made me sad. My heart broke for Ilya. Shane really made me angry. I’m glad they got their happily ever after. But I probably won’t ever re-read this now that I know how it ends.
