"The book that got me into hockey romance." --NPR's Weekend Edition

Nothing interferes with pro hockey star Shane Hollander's game.

Now that he's captain of the Montreal Voyageurs, he won't let anything jeopardize that--definitely not the sexy rival he loves to hate.

Boston Bears captain Ilya Rozanov is everything Shane's not. The self-proclaimed king of the ice, he's as cocky as he is talented. No one can beat him--except Shane. Publicly, they're enemies. Privately, they can't stop touching each other.

The smart thing to do? Walk away, once a few secret hookups turn into a struggle to keep their relationship out of the press. The truth could ruin them both. But for Shane and Ilya, secrecy is soon no longer an option...

Whew! This book is an angst filled long haul with the last quarter of the book being very happy and satisfying. The guys' story isn't really complete so I'm calling this one an HFN and when their plans are completed in the future, which I have no doubt they will be, that will be their final HEA. I hope to hear about them coming to fruition in upcoming books.
This one is pretty spicy. I'm giving it 🌶🌶🌶3/5 chilies on the spicy scale. It had a lot of spicy scenes, but they were not very descriptive, had they been descriptive, this would have been an easy five chilies.

I listened to the audiobook. Tor Thom is amazing as always.

I listened to the audiobook for Heated Rivalry, and I think this was the first really spicy audiobook I’ve ever listened to. 😂 There were definitely a few moments where I was giggling or blushing while listening. I also have to give a shoutout to the narrator because he did such a great job. I especially loved his Russian accent for Ilya—it made the audiobook even more immersive and really brought the character to life. What really made this book for me, though, was Shane and Ilya. They were both such lovable characters, and I loved watching their relationship grow over time. Seeing them become more accepting of themselves and more confident in their relationship was honestly really beautiful. I also loved the rivals-to-lovers trope, the slow-burn romance, and the secrecy surrounding their relationship. It all kept me invested without feeling overdone. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I’m not sure I’ll continue with the rest of the series, but I’m glad I picked this one up. I originally read it because I wanted to watch the adaptation afterward. The part of it I watched was really well done—I just need to actually finish it because I’m terrible at leaving shows halfway through.
