*I was excited to receive an advance copy of this novel via Netgalley and Blue Rider Press.*
The Life and Death of Sophie Stark reads like a critically acclaimed indie film. The characters are beautifully flawed, the settings delightfully morose, and the story deeply engrossing. North does a fine job of fleshing out her characters, and through their eyes, fleshing out Sophie; I never felt confused or lost during their transitions, each voice was distinct and strong. It was a beautiful reminder that no matter how hard we try we can never completely know someone else.
