Thought provoking situations, while reading it was hard to determine whether this book was fiction or nonfiction. Characters were flat, but the discussions that resulted from this book were deep!
I just happened upon this book at a book exchange party and I am so glad I did! I had no idea I would be reading about a gang of barren women, exiled from their frontier communities- feared to be contagions or witches. I was wrapped from start to finish.
Interesting premise that would be served by much more story. The plot feels rushed and patronizing given the great premise but shallow exposition.
Points for an imaginative retelling of the Hole in the Wall gang, led by Billy the Kid. After the Great Flu, childbearing is high priority. Women that do not conceive within the first year of marriage are cast away - accused of witchcraft or sent to a convent.
