The Housemaid

Over 2 Million Copies Sold and Soon to Be a Major Motion Picture Starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried!

Don't miss the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestseller and addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that's burning up Instagram and TikTok--Freida McFadden's The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity.

Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But she soon finds out... and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late.

But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don't know who I really am.

They don't know what I'm capable of...

I’m somewhat torn because the first book I read from Frieda was “Never Lie” and I absolutely LOVED it… then I decided to read this one as my next read.. here’s the thing, I thought it was fast paced and the characters definitely got the best of my emotions…but I felt like towards the end it kinda got a bit corny for me? So because of that, I’m rating it 3 stars. The plot twist had me for a second but then like I said, as I got closer to the end it just wasn’t giving what it was supposed to give. Maybe you will see what I mean if you read it? This is a series as well but because I didn’t care too much for the ending, I’ve convinced myself that I’m not reading the rest of The Housemaid series.

My first thriller that I enjoyed from start to finish. The ending especially was so gripping I could not put the book down! One of my favorites now.

I couldn’t stop reading. This is one where I gasped out loud. Sort of saw the twist coming, but getting there was so much fun! My perspective on a particular character changed in the second half. Definitely a must read.

Wickeddd - that’s one word to sum up the reading experience. I became sucked into the story that I read it in one setting. It was intense, shocking and I couldn’t put the book down. I had to reread some parts as I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I really loved the writing style. I felt like a fly on the wall and watching the drama unfold. Who do you trust and who has secrets? Nina, I was annoyed with you but okay you had your reasons so well played. I kept thinking you never know the full story of a person’s true intentions until they either reveal it or the situation reveals itself. The villain in this book..is truly wicked and it worked. His character brought the anxiety and tension which can come across as annoying but it worked to make this book really good.
