This quote comes to mind: "When your past calls, don't answer. It has nothing new to say." Gatsby: a daydreamer antihero. Fitzgerald: disturbingly brilliant.

“They were careless people; they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness.” – To me, this one line will always remain as the essence of this book.
