New York Times
bestselling author Sarah Beth Durst invites you to her new standalone novel set in the world of The Spellshop! Follow her to The Enchanted Greenhouse, a cozy fantasy nestled on a faraway island brimming with singing flowers, honey cakes, and honeyed love.

Terlu Perna broke the law because she was lonely.
She cast a spell and created a sentient spider plant. As punishment, she was turned into a wooden statue and hidden away.

This should have been the end of her story… but one day, Terlu wakes in the cold of winter on a nearly-deserted island full of hundreds of magical greenhouses. She’s starving and freezing, and the only other human on the island is a grumpy gardener. To Terlu’s surprise, he offers her a warm refuge—until she’s ready to sail home.

But Terlu doesn’t want to leave, and as she grows closer with the unwittingly charming gardener, Yarrow, she learns that the magic that sustains the greenhouses is failing. Terlu knows she must help, even if that means breaking the law again.

This time, though, she isn’t alone. Assisted by Yarrow and a sentient rose, Terlu must unravel the secrets of a long-dead sorcerer to save the island—and have a fresh chance at happiness and love.

Funny, kind, and forgiving, The Enchanted Greenhouse is a story about giving second chances—to others and to yourself.

The only bad thing about this book is that it had to end

Sarah Beth Durst's The Enchanted Greenhouse invites readers into a world filled with singing flowers, magical greenhouses, and a heroine who refuses to learn her lesson the first time. The result is a cozy fantasy that feels soft, whimsical, and easy to sink into. Terlu begins as someone punished for using magic out of loneliness and is turned into stone. Then, she wakes up on a remote island where magic is fading and the ecosystem is falling apart. Instead of backing away, she does exactly what got her in trouble before. She sets out to use magic again to save the garden and its adorable inhabitants. Along the way, Terlu also builds a romantic connection with a grumpy gardener and befriends a cast of charming plant and creature companions. The side characters steal the spotlight. A sentient rose, a cat with personality, and that grumpy gardener create a dynamic that keeps the story warm and engaging. Their interactions bring humor and tenderness that carry the slower moments. This is a character driven story first. The plot takes a back seat to atmosphere and connection. The pacing stretched this story longer than it needed to be. The stakes stay light and many conflicts resolve in ways that feel a little too convenient. By the end, everything falls neatly into place. Which fits the tone but removes some of the tension readers expect in the fantasy genre. This reads like a comforting escape and is closer to a Disney style happy ending rather than a high stakes fantasy. The audiobook is a highlight. Caitlin Davies handles a large cast with ease and gives each character a distinct presence. A full cast production would have elevated this even more with how lively the non-human characters are. The Enchanted Greenhouse is not a book for readers looking for sharp twists or heavy conflict. It is a gentle, feel good fantasy that leans into charm, found connection, and second chances. The perfect story for when you want something soft and sweet without emotional weight.

The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst, narrated by Caitlin Davies, is a delightful listen!

Terlu was introduced in The Spellshop as the librarian who created Caz, a sentient spider plant. It's a crime for non-sorcerers to perform magic, and she was punished by being "statuified." Six years later, she finds herself "unstatuified" and on an island unknown to her. This wintry island is inhabited by a grumpy gardener and an enchanted greenhouse, which really consists of many greenhouses connected by a series of doors. Each greenhouse holds different wonders, but the magic is starting to falter, and some of the greenhouses are dying—along with the plants inside. It's up to Terlu and her new friends to save them.

This book has a delightful cast of characters, from pollinating teacup dragons to a band of sentient plants. The characters are what I loved most about this story. If you want to read something that feels like a warm hug, this is it.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the story and all the characters in this sweet novel. This is definitely cozy story set in a unique little world with a happily ever after. This is worth your time, especially if you are looking to escape to a world where people choose to do what’s right even when it’s not easy.

Absolutely loved just like I loved the spellshop! Love the characters, love the winged cat emeral, love the enchanted awoken flowers and plants! Very magical cozy and warm feeling as I read. Loved how this story tied into the characters from the last book Caz and the spellshop! Very much looking forward to Sarah Beth Dursts newest book in the series coming out next year in 2026 about Marin the sea captain / boat runner!
