Such a cute, cozy read with a little magic, some suspense, and a sentient plant who steals the show. I was very charmed by this sweet book.
Loved this book! The Sarah Beth Durst says it best, this book reads like drinking hot chocolate! Its cozy, cute, and a quick read. I wish there was more information in the end. Im nosey I want to know what the âafterâ looks like after the main event of the plot happens. I like to see the happily ever after more. Go check this book out! I loved it!
Absolutely loved this book. The world building, the characters.. it was utter perfection. I feel like this has AMAZING series potential which would be a dream come true. Now, BRB⦠daydreaming of Caltrey. And Larran
Such an amazing read and 100% worth the hype! I cant even begin to explain how much I adored this book and all the characters! Cant wait to read about Caz’s creator Sarah B Durst’s new book.
Anyway,
I loved Keila (which tbh her pronunciation if the name bothered me a lot! Why couldn’t it just be spelled Kila? Alls, I’m saying 🤷♀️😂) i loved that she looked so unique, blue hair and skin and I totally googled fanart and it was so lovely.
I loved Bryn and Larran and umm MEEP! They all had great personalities. I loved their backstories and how real they felt to me. I loved that they all were some sort of wonky creature hybrid and I never really knew how to visualize them per the descriptions but in my mind they existed in whatever form they took 😅.
The world building was so beautifully done and easy to melt into. I’m honestly very sad to finish the book and try to find another read that fills my heart for cozy fantasy.
10/10 I recommend and will be a future reread.
FORMAT: Combo of physical & Kindle
RECAP: Kiela, a reclusive librarian with a magically sentient spider plant named Caz, escapes a revolution with stolen spell books & takes refuge on her childhood island. There, a persistent—and annoyingly charming—neighbor disrupts her solitude, while she turns to jam-making for income using a mix of old recipes & forbidden magic. Soon, she secretly opens the island’s first spell shop, risking everything to bring a little enchantment to those in need.
REVIEW: The premise of this book would make a great Switch game. I just wish there was ~more~ to the plot - I read for a book club, where multiple people called this a good palate cleanser for after those tough or thick books, and I can totally see/agree with that... I guess I just don't need a palate cleanser, even after finishing The Women, so I have no idea what that says about me.
