By Elle Kennedy

He's tight-lipped, tattooed, and off-limits. She's sunshine, sass, and impossible to ignore. At Briar U, the parties are wild, the hockey is brutal, and the slowest burns lead to the fiercest love stories. Fashion student Summer Di Laurentis is used to turning heads. Beneath the sparkles and sarcasm, she's determined to prove she's more than just her image. A new school offers a fresh start--if she can survive the chaos of sharing a house with her brother's hockey teammates. Including the one guy who's immune to her charm. Colin "Fitzy" Fitzgerald prefers quiet to drama, games to parties, and walls to vulnerability. But Summer gets under his skin. She's the opposite of everything he thought he wanted. Too loud. Too bold. Too tempting. When forced proximity collides with undeniable chemistry, resisting their new roommate will be Summer and Fitzy's ultimate challenge. The first in New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy's beloved Briar U series, The Chase blends laugh-out-loud banter, emotional tension, and unforgettable slow-burn sizzle. Fans of The Deal, Icebreaker, and The Love Hypothesis will fall hard for this witty, addictive story of self-discovery, opposites clashing, and unexpected connection. Join the millions of readers who've fallen for the Briar U boys--and the women who change their game.

Fitzy is such a weird character to me. He is very hot and cold and normally that does not bother me. However, his character did. I don't think that his reasons justified his actions for me. To call her so many horrendous names just so he wouldn't sleep with her is unacceptable. Being afraid of rich girls is not a good enough reason to be a dick to someone who has been nothing but nice to you. I am glad that she put him in his place over and over again. She made sure he had to work at it to prove that he is into her. She needed to do that with how mean he was to her. I still enjoyed the book despite his flaws. I love a good opposites attract book.

Summer is my BFF I love her and she is my spirit animal. I am at the Fitz fashion show for his job interview scene and she literally just said these pants will show off too much ass and all I can think is there no such thing as too much Fitz ass 😍

I can't get enough of Briar U!
This is my 2nd time listening to it and it's just as great!
The audiobook is awesome. Jacob Morgan and CJ Bloom nail the narration.
Duel narration, 2 narrators, 2 POVs, first person.
Fitzy is a hockey player just trying to keep his head down and get his dream job at a gaming company.
Summer is a girl trying to overcome everyone's assumptions about her and get her degree in design.
They go great together and the book is low angst and spicy. It's vanilla spice though so I'm only giving it 🌶🌶/5 chilis on the spicy scale. I docked chilis for repetition and unadventurous.
There is an HEA.

Sometimes you just need an easy, light hearted read with some spicy spice - this was just that! I breezed through this one because it was just so good! College kids with their love & drama, mixed with sports?! How could I not love it! Highly recommend and I can’t wait to read the next one in this series!

I really liked the tension built between Fitz and Summer. It was really hot when they finally got together, but you had to wait A LONG TIME. And honestly, I didn't like Fitz or Summer. They both seemed really immature and Fitz was a jerk most of the book. I felt like she settled and sure, it had it's spice but you had to go through most of the book to get there. Just though it was ok.
