With the TV series getting so much hype, I wanted to read the book before deciding whether to watch it. I truly appreciated how the topic of r*pe was handled by both the author’s construction of the story and the characters’ discussions and approach. Aside from that, it was a traditional college romance story in terms of spice and storyline. I think it will play out well on screen if the show handles the topic as well as the book did.
Loved this. It was super cute, the characters felt well-rounded and like real college kids who are figuring stuff out. The banter was on point, the hockey was on point, and the full cast is interesting enough for me to want to carry on reading the rest of the series. I particularly liked that both characters didn't have charmed lives, and that the major crisis point didn't involved other-person drama, but I wasn't a massive fan of how the crisis came about. That said, I'd love to carry on reading more in this universe and I sure wouldn't turn down Garrett if he wanted to be my boyfriend :D
Okay, fine. I got sucked into the TV show and bought the entire book series. I’m almost always a “the book was better” girl, but I have to admit, I like them both equally! There are plenty of differences between the two, but I actually like what each version does with the characters. Garrett and Hannah are easy to root for, and I flew through this one. Is this kind of college romance and happily-ever-after hope completely unrealistic? Probably. Do I care? Apparently not. I’m ready to dig into the next one. 3⭐️ Book #70 in 2026
