Take a Hint, Dani Brown: A Novel (The Brown Sisters, 2)

Named one of the Best Romances of 2020 by Apple, Kirkus, PW, Washington Post, NPR, BookPage, OprahMag, EW, Insider, Buzzfeed, Bustle, and Amazon!
USA Today bestselling author Talia Hibbert returns with another charming romantic comedy about a young woman who agrees to fake date her friend after a video of him “rescuing” her from their office building goes viral...
Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits—someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom.
When big, brooding security guard Zafir Ansari rescues Dani from a workplace fire drill gone wrong, it’s an obvious sign: PhD student Dani and former rugby player Zaf are destined to sleep together. But before she can explain that fact to him, a video of the heroic rescue goes viral. Suddenly, half the internet is shipping #DrRugbae—and Zaf is begging Dani to play along. Turns out his sports charity for kids could really use the publicity. Lying to help children? Who on earth would refuse?
Dani’s plan is simple: fake a relationship in public, seduce Zaf behind the scenes. The trouble is, grumpy Zaf is secretly a hopeless romantic—and he’s determined to corrupt Dani’s stone-cold realism. Before long, he’s tackling her fears into the dirt. But the former sports star has issues of his own, and the walls around his heart are as thick as his... um, thighs.
The easy lay Dani dreamed of is now more complex than her thesis. Has her wish backfired? Is her focus being tested? Or is the universe just waiting for her to take a hint?

Dani is a very passionate but very singular person who can't handle Zafir the moment he steps into her life. Cue fake-dating trope on top of it and that's when all chaos ensue.
I have to admit this is the first book which I read (to my knowledge) that had a bisexual character. And she was so badass with the crystals and her connection with the spiritual above. It was interesting and something new to read.
I think Zafir brings out the best in her, helping her to be in touch with her emotions and face the truth when she refuses to. And I think that is sweet. Whereas Dani looks out for him and supports him in a way she knows it gets through to him.
Never forget that Zafir is such a sucker for Dani, maybe realistically it would be hard to find one but I would fully absorb all his loveliness because he is fiction. He is so attentive to her when she speaks, walks or even breathes. And he is such a talker in bed and who doesn't love that? He can talk to me all night while doing things, please.
At some points of the book, it was too draggy that I had to skim through pages. The end was too long and the beginning was too long as well.
Overall a cute read, I found myself smiling at some points of the book and conclusion: I don't regret this read.
Read this for The Reading Rush Challenges:
-a book set on a continent you do not live
-read the first book you touch
I think I liked Chloe Brown a little bit more but overall was still an enjoyable read. But, is anyone else kinda over the third act "conflict" that happens in all contemporary romances...may need to take a break from the overtly formulaic.
