It just gets better and better and I don’t know if I’m ever prepared for it. I absolutely love Lana and Logan!! The man is a powerhouse of emotions and she is just…..extraordinary. I don’t care what her extracurricular activities are she is utter perfection and deserves the utmost happiness and love.

I loved the first book in this series. Absolutely mindblowing! Wonderful read, and I was looking forward to reading the rest.

I find contemporary romance novels boring. Once you've read one, you've read them all (to me!). The Mindf*ck series has some elements that you would find in an insta-love romance, but it's the combination of thriller and romance that got me.

With that being said, I do have some questions about the second book in this series. I absolutely love Lana and Logan as a couple, but in this one, since we are going along with their relationship, we learn how insanely jealous they both are. Once again, this is supposed to be an insta-love type romance, but one: they hardly know each other, and already they're obsessed with one another. And two: they both claim to be madly in love because the other half is like someone they've never met before. They don't even know each other... but who am I to judge. They are still a decently cute couple.

I really tried to ignore their constant compulsion to need to be near one another. Sidetracked is more focused on the Boogeyman case Logan is working on, which I absolutely am in love with (the case, not Logan. His description isn't my cup of tea in my love interests). There is really only one sex scene compared to multiple ones in the first book. I'm not too angry about that, but if I'm not going to get excited via smut, I want my blood to grow cold with the details of the murders. We get none of that. When Lana gets her hands on Hadley's pedophile step-father, Kenneth, I would have loved to read about how she tortured him. But we are taken through her finding out about him from Jake, then her getting rid of Kenneth's body. Sure, she tells us she tortured him. We know she stabbed him a number of times, and she got him to confess, but we aren't taken there when it happens.

That is my biggest issue: Glossing over event details. That includes the dirty stuff in the bedroom. For a name like Mindfuck the least I could get is one or two very descriptive sex scenes. I'm not a fan of the "telling" narrative. Show me what is going on! I don't want to take your word for it. I want to see it for myself! It feels like the author wanted to, but pulled back at the last second. I don't like being teased by my thrillers or smut. But this was still an excellent read. I just have a feeling the rest of the series will be slowly dropping in my ratings due to the lack of details.
