Lana’s fury made it easy to cheer for every carefully planned act of retribution against the men who harmed her. Her transformation from a discarded victim into a powerful predator carries a satisfying phoenix-from-the-ashes power. I imagine those who have survived abuse and imagined violent justice against untouchable men will find Lana's story exciting. Marie Hawkins and TJ Clark perform the audiobook through dual narration. Dual narration is not my preferred format, but both narrators deliver mighty performances. Hawkins gives Lana the vulnerability and conviction needed to make a murderous vigilante remarkably sympathetic. Clark captures Logan’s growing affection and protective instincts so well that his blindness toward Lana feels inevitable. Pick up The Risk if you enjoy morally gray heroines, graphic revenge, hidden identities, and romances built around dangerous secrets. Lana may be a monster to the FBI, but the men on her list helped create her. The cliffhanger clearly prepares Lana and Logan for a dangerous cat-and-mouse relationship. Unfortunately, my curiosity never became strong enough to continue the series.

The Risk pulled me in from the start and kept me hooked until the last page. Lana’s dark complexity and Logan’s steady yet conflicted nature created the perfect storm of intrigue, danger, and passion. It was an easy read but one that still carried weight, leaving me wanting more with every chapter. The tension and pacing were addictive, and I appreciated how the romance unfolded naturally without overshadowing the darker themes. It’s not lighthearted, but it’s gripping, raw, and unforgettable. I’ll definitely continue the series because I need to know where this dangerous and twisted story goes next.

Feelings complicate things and sometimes you make choices just to feel different about how you view life. We are following Lana as she seeks revenge for all the trouble she went through with a group of males a couple of decades back. In the events of doing that one misleading FBI agent throws right into the right one, where she falls in love, and then it all goes to shit after that.
