Scarlet

Soon to be adapted into a major motion picture!
The second book in the #1 New York Times- and USA Today-Bestselling Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer! Our cyborg heroine teams up with two new characters, Scarlet and Wolf, to defend Earth against a wicked space queen.
"An interesting mash up of fairy tales and science fiction . . . a cross between Cinderella, Terminator, and Star Wars." —Entertainment Weekly on the Lunar Chronicles
She splayed her fingers on the back of the ship, annoyed at how her nerves were humming, like they couldn’t decide if she should be afraid of him or flattered.
Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother, or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her.
Halfway around the world, Cinder is back and trying to break out of prison—even though she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive if she does.
As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana.
The adventure continues in this fresh fairytale retelling that combines elements of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

I really liked this, not as much as I liked Cinder, but it was a great second book.
I had to push myself through the Scarlet chapters of this book and I also had to look up every next chapter with Cinder/Kai everytime a new Scarlet chapter began. XD
Scarlet was a good character, her story just wasn't that intriguing for me. Even though I giggled with joy when the end of the book was near and she had her "happily ending/new beginning".
So yeah... Ugggh. I need sleep.
Edit: Oh! And also! Thorne's character is gold! The perfect comedy relief!
This series just gets better and better. Where as we had Cinder, the cyborg Cinderella, we now have Scarlet, the farmer Little Red. She's lost her grandmother and will do anything to find her.
Once again Marissa Meyer takes a fairy/folk tale I don't like and turns it into something I can't get enough of.
Warning: Spoilers!
Let us begin with the the twist on Little Red Riding Hood. It's so much fun comparing the original tale with a futuristic/paranormal version. Just like in Cinder it's not particularly on track with it's inspiration, but that's what makes it so great. The book even takes place in France where it's theorized that Little Red Riding Hood originated.
Now, on to the crucial stuff.
YES it's Z! I think I just fainted from fangirling too hard.

The boy from The Queen's Army returns, except this time he's older, sexier, and fighting for love. I definitely screamed like a small child when I put two and two together about him.
“I think I realized that I would rather die because I betrayed them, than live because I betrayed you.” - Wolf (Alpha Ze'ev Kesley) *squeal*
The pace was a lot faster than Cinder. Truthfully I couldn't put it down even if I wanted to. All-night-long-page-turner. Kind of expected though since Cinder was as well.
What I wasn't expecting was for the cast of Cinder to also make appearances. Oh what a ship full of misfits, it's endearing really. Each character has a different view on the entire situation while still maintaining their realistic attributes. This adds an entire new level of intrigue to the series. With each book building on the big picture I can only imagine how epic the end will be.
Scarlet and Wolf are older than Cinder as well. For me this is an important detail. I can't stand when you read a series and every single character is 16. Come on, diversity is a good thing ya know.
There was a bit more humor in this sequel with the addition of Thorne complementing Iko's new getup.
“Cinder," Iko said after a few silent minutes of explorations. "I'm enormous.” - Iko
The romance balanced perfectly between cheesy and meaningful. Nothing too serious though since it's Young Adult, but beautifully written. Absolutely my favorite part of the book.
This is where I'd normally begin ranting about anything I disliked with the book but I enjoyed every last word. It's an exciting, romantic, mysterious novel that I will recommend and reread for quite some time. I will also be pre-ordering Cress and Winter (^.^)
