Rule of the Aurora King (Artefacts of Ouranos, 2)

By Nisha J. Tuli

"I am not his conquest. I am not his to claim. I am my own castle."

Freed from the golden clutches of the Sun King, Lor now finds herself in the hands of Nadir, the Aurora Prince. Convinced she's hiding something, he's willing to do whatever it takes to make her talk. But Lor knows the value of secrets--she's been keeping them her entire life--and she's not letting hers go without a fight.

When Lor and Nadir team up to search for a lost item that holds the key to her past and her future, she isn't sure she can trust him. All she knows is she won't fall for another royal fae's promises again.

With the Sun King determined to reclaim her, Lor must keep on the move, but nowhere is safe. Not until she destroys him and the Aurora King. But she soon learns that the future of Ouranos depends on much more than avenging her shattered legacy.

What a great continuation of book 1! I'm still giving this book five stars because I really did thoroughly enjoy it, but not quite to the same level I loved book 1. This book was ~s p i c y~, which I enjoy in small doses but this book had a bit much for my preference (not to say that others readers wont absolutely love the extra spice). The continuation of the plot in this book was amazing, typically I feel that many books drag the plot in book 2 but this continued so seamlessly! The shifting of POV's kept me so engaged and though I usually am not the biggest fan of 'history' POV's, Serce's chapters were captivating and integral to the plot. I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat for book 3's release June 2024!!

God Lor is so frustrating in this one, honestly insufferable at times, but wow, I am loving Nadir. As a follow-up to the first book, it keeps the timeline moving, but it doesn’t quite deliver on the momentum I expected. The pacing drags, especially given the castle setting where it feels like major events should be unfolding… but too often, nothing happens. It’s not a bad read, far from it, but the lack of urgency makes it less engaging than it could have been. I’ll absolutely finish the series, but I’m hoping the next installment ups the pace and gives us the payoff this one was missing.

"I'll wait forever if I have to." Everyone is coming to grabs with waiting. It's a good time! I don't feel the need to compare this to every other series, I am just enjoying this one. Is Lor annoying YES! but her mental development stopped at 12, sooo what. The flashbacks are not annoying, I hope it doesn't take over the story. Also I hope Willow and Tristan are woven into the story a little more over the next 2 books. Oh and it might not work out but I am rooting for Nadir!!
