⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 4 stars

I loved this movie as a kid but didn't recall ever reading the book. From what I remember the movie seemed to follow what I read pretty closely and so I found it quite enjoyable. I was playing scenes from the movie in my head as I was reading and will be watching the original movie again soon.

I think it's so fun to go back and read books from childhood and see how we respond to them as adults.

Great childhood read

I remember a grade school teacher reading this to us around Halloween and being enthralled with it. It was just as great reading it as an adult. Not too scary but a great adventure story about a brave boy and his grandmother.

What a wonderful book! I read it almost in one sitting! I loved the movie when I was young, but the book, as usual, was better! Very, very awesome!

Some pretty dark scenes for a kid’s book
