I loved this movie as a kid but didn't recall ever reading the book. From what I remember the movie seemed to follow what I read pretty closely and so I found it quite enjoyable. I was playing scenes from the movie in my head as I was reading and will be watching the original movie again soon.

I think it's so fun to go back and read books from childhood and see how we respond to them as adults.
