It's the time of the summer vacation for the school kids I volunteer with, and they have limited recreational options with the Covid-19 second wave on top of their underprivileged backgrounds. Most of them are now bored to the extent that they're asking me to give them extra assignments! I am delegated to teach them Coding, but I wanted to put aside the technical subjects for the time being and help them delve into what used to be my favorite way to spend summer vacations - reading books, and they were more than excited to discover that I would be sending & reading with them, the books I used to love as a kid. Matilda is one of them; and albeit I forget details of the books I read long back, how the book made me feel is never forgotten. Matilda is as delightful as I remember it to be, but the joy of reading it has been compounded by the discussions I've had with my kids and seeing the story through their lens, as a kid, as it was meant to be seen! I reckon I'll be re-reading more of my childhood favorites and reliving school summer vacations with them. :)

What a wonderful book! I read it almost in one sitting! I loved the movie when I was young, but the book, as usual, was better! Very, very awesome!

Finally finished this! Yay!
It was adorable.

I don't see why people complain about the movie, it was pretty close.
Now the Broadway on the other hand, the book had nothing to do with that. So much craziness in the Broadway. But I loved that, so I don't even care.

Very strange book if you're reading it for the first time as an adult. Even though Maltilda is 5 in the book, it's probably for slightly older kids, 8-10. Charming book.
