Right on Cue

From the beloved author of Just My Type and Lease on Love comes a new romantic comedy in which a former actress-turned-screenwriter finds herself back in the spotlight, only for her romantic lead to be the one man she can't stand.

Emmy Harper is no stranger to Hollywood, having penned some of the most popular movies of the past few years. But her latest project has hit a standstill--unable to find the perfect leading lady, Emmy's been recruited to take on the role herself, dusting off acting skills she hasn't used in over a decade.

Things take a turn for the worse when a she's left with the one costar she can't trust: Grayson West. A blockbuster action hero known for his megawatt smile and impossible abs, Grayson is anyone's dream of a romantic lead. Too bad Emmy still blames him for her disastrous first movie and the early end to her acting career.

The friction between the two risks tanking the movie, and no one knows if it's lingering awkwardness from their youth or unresolved sexual tension. But if they want to save the production--and their own careers--they need to get their acts together quickly, both on and off camera.

I hated this book very very much. The main character is the worst. What a terrible person. I also realize now that I despise the enemies to lovers trope. None of this was working for me. Bad pick!

From the beginning, this book hooked me with its wit, adorableness, and fun-filled pages. I couldn’t help but be curious about how the romance between Emmy and Grayson would bloom, and I can confidently say that my curiosity was satisfied throughout the story.

What sets this book apart is its main characters, who are wonderfully quirky and full of personality. Emmy’s interactions with the other characters in the book make her a delightful protagonist, striking a perfect balance between being entertaining and not coming across as annoying. As for Grayson, while he may initially come off as smug, it doesn’t take long for him to reveal his redeeming qualities, making it incredibly easy for readers to root for their eventual union.

It’s true that the plot itself may not be the most original, as I have come across similar stories about movie stars who initially despise each other before eventually falling in love. However, what makes “Right on Cue” stand out is Emmy, Grayson, and the supporting cast’s unique blend of personalities. They give the book a refreshing twist, making it a truly engaging read I couldn’t.

If you’re in the mood for a delightful, quick read that is sure to entertain, I highly recommend picking up “Right on Cue.” It’s a book that will captivate you with its charm, keep you eagerly turning the pages, and leave you with a smile.

I loved loved loved the first 2/3 of this book and read it in a day but the last 1/3 took me a sold 9 days to finish. I've spent the last few days trying to think back on why that was. I loved the character development and immediately related to Emmy and how she still felt the sting of a teenage love/infatuation to then be made fun of/embarrassed by the MMC. Then to come back and see him again as an adult and feel all those feelings and insecurities. I felt that. I loved watching the main characters fall in love with each other but I think I just hate a 3rd act break up/resolution/miscommunication that felt like ughhhh just freaking talk to each other. I can't say that I'm a talk about my feelings kinda person but it just made me feel so frustrated. Anyway... I did like this book, I love Falon Ballard and would read a menu if she wrote it. So there is that.
