Remain: A Supernatural Love Story

This book was written with so much compassion for those who remain that I can’t wait to suggest it to others who need to be reminded that for those of us who remain here after a loved one’s death, life can still be beautiful.

Nicholas Sparks has been an auto-buy author for me for literal decades and I have enjoyed several of M. Night Shyamalan's films, so this collaboration intrigued me greatly. I thought the blending of mystery, romance, and the paranormal made for an entertaining story, but I can't say it was something wholly new, which was a bit of a let down. I was waiting for a twist or some unpredictability, but it never came. I will still be looking forward to watching the movie when it releases. I started off reading the book, but when I saw Julia Whelan was doing the narration I wanted to finish it in audio. The narration did a great job of bringing these characters to life.

Interesting collaboration between a romance and supernatural authors.

I didn’t expect to like this book. I really didn’t like the beginning at all I almost stopped reading it all together. Then I disliked the protagonist and couldn’t stand him for awhile.. but I’m glad I stuck with it. I actually thought the ending was kinda sweet.
