Oh my god!!!! This book was so good
Pen Pal lures readers into a mystery revolving around a letter that shows up in the house of a Widow, Kayla, postmarked from a prison.
Confused but mostly curious, Kayla decides to answer it. With the house falling apart and the stress since the funeral, what else is there to do?
Finally tracking down a responsive and seemingly capable roofer, things look like they're finally turning around. That is until she and said roofer quarrel over the project and they part ways.
However, fate seems to draw them together and while she's still processing the loss of her husband, Kayla cannot deny her attraction to Aiden. But the weird things at her house continue to escalate and she's convinced the spirit of her dead husband is beginning to haunt her.
I was at the halfway point of this story and considered (more than once) DNFing the book. Primarily because I wasn't sure if the story way meant to be gothic horror, dark romance, beginner's guide to kink or a ghost story.
By the end, I still didn't know how to truly label this book. I will say the twist was intriguing; I had a suspicion about out earlier on but Kayla's character is just not that reliable and I knew there were details missing.
This is my 3rd attempt at reading from this author and I think it might be the only one I've gotten through to the end.

My rating is me being extremely generous… This book came highly recommended and is all over TikTok, I don’t get the hype. This one did not do it for me!
I enjoyed Perfect Strangers by this author, but this one fell flat unfortunately!

THE REALIZATIONS? omg i can't even breathe yall, goodnight im going to sleep now.
Extra brownie points for originality and creativity with this one! I honestly did NOT see the ending coming, even if looking back the signs were there.
I loved the main characters, the spice and of course the twist at the end that first left me a little peeved but I forgive easily. After I sat back and really thought about it, the ending is truly unique.
