Pen Pal (Standard Edition)

An instant USA Today bestseller!

It all began with just one line.

“I’ll wait forever if I have to.”

The BookTok sensation PEN PAL is a high-octane, tautly written dark romance with an unforgettable twist that will leave readers gasping. Now with a brand new bonus chapter, this breathtaking romance about undeniable love from superstar J.T. Geissinger is not to be missed!

The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried. It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence:

I’ll wait forever if I have to.

It was signed by Dante, a man I didn’t know.

Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for. His reply?

You.

I told the mystery man he had the wrong girl. He said he didn’t. I said we’d never met, but he said I was wrong.

We went back and forth, exchanging letters every week that grew increasingly more intimate. Then one day, the letters stopped. When I found out why, it was already too late.

Dante was at my doorstep.

And nothing on earth could have prepared me for what happened next.

Ok the cover alone was enough to get me to read this book and I’m so glad I did. JT Geissinger slayed it! A twist that will have you saying out loud “What the F$*%”

In the beginning (first 100 pages), I was like oh well of course Dante is Aiden that is obvious. Thought this is definitely dark romance, the spice doesn’t seem to stop! Then all of a sudden the book got freaking weird. Started getting into ghosts and paranormal crap, which was losing my interest quickly. As I’m reading I’m like great, this is gonna end up being some Sixth Sense kinda crap. I am only giving a 7 rating due to the fact that the first half of the book was going great…until it wasn’t

One of those books that I was not expecting to enjoy as much as I did. The twist left me shocked and also had me in tears. A really good romance mystery that has made me want to try out more mystery

I approached this book without prior knowledge, intrigued by the enthusiastic praise I had seen in smut romance groups. In hindsight, I wish I had done more research because I discovered that it is not a dark romance novel, which left me somewhat disappointed. Although the story held my attention enough to finish in a single sitting, much of my engagement stemmed from my confusion about the plot. Based on the title and marketing, I expected a spicy pen pal romance, but instead, I found myself immersed in a ghost story. I likely wouldn’t have picked it up if I had known it was paranormal fiction. The writing and storytelling were commendable, featuring a decent amount of smut, and I appreciated the Dom/sub dynamics between the main characters. However, their relationship progressed too quickly, and while this became clearer by the end, I still felt their backstory was lacking. The plot twist at the end surprised me, even though I tried to predict various outcomes. However, many story elements didn’t feel logically coherent, and the resolution felt abrupt and unsatisfying, as we never truly discovered what happened to the main characters. Ultimately, I rated it 3 out of 5 for the writing quality—it captivated me, but overall, the book wasn't to my taste. Despite many readers finding the story emotional, I didn’t connect with it in that way.
