Better than the first book of the series! Still wouldn't categorise this series as dark romance though.
⚠️ TW: abuse, sexual assault, violence.
I like Michelle's clear style of writing, it isn't long winded and it's easy to follow without sounding monotonous. She also includes the ages of the characters at the start of the book so no one needs to flip through the pages to check.
I liked Liam (H) in this book, he was protective and also serious in his mafia work which showed a great balance. Usually alpha men make me roll my eyes but this book portrayed Liam well. Kiara (h) too was a determined and strong woman who learnt to stand up for herself over time. This book had boss x employee and forced proximity tropes and I love the whole "pining over my hot boss" thing so that really satisfied me. Smut wise, I'd rate it
