Frankie and George have been best friends since they were eight years old. Both passionate, impulsive, and headstrong—they’ve always clashed . . . and come back together. Until now. It’s the eve of Frankie’s wedding weekend, and she doesn’t know where they stand or even if George will show up as her best man. Then, at the start of the festivities, in walks George. For one glorious evening, surrounded by her loved ones, Frankie’s life is finally perfect. But it all comes crashing down when her fiancé dumps her the next morning, leaving only a note as an explanation. Crushed and confused, Frankie returns to her family’s home to wallow. But George has a different idea and a plan for healing Frankie’s broken heart. He wants her to go on her honeymoon. With him. For one week, to the lush rainforests and misty beaches of Tofino. Frankie agrees, seeing the trip for what it really is: one last chance to repair their friendship. Even if it means unearthing secrets and long buried feelings neither knows how to handle. Even if it means falling apart for good.

7.5⭐️ - rounded down for Bookclubs It’s not that I didn’t like this but it’s just so unrealistic to me. The friends-to-lovers trope is one I consistently cannot get behind. It is so far-fetched to me that two people who have been friends since they were eight years old would grow up being super close and never have feelings for each other. It’s always either they are delusional, in denial or hiding their feelings and it’s not my favorite to read. There were a lot of swoon-worthy moments but overarching the concept for this is not my favorite. I felt a lot of similarities to Emily Henry’s People We Meet On Vacation, and I think that partially swayed my opinions as well because it felt like another version of a similar story. But, I did think it was well written, it was cute and an easy summer read. This was my first Carley Fortune and I think I will pick up more of her as I’ve heard some of her other works are more of fan favs, but this one’s just a “maybe” from me.

Carley Fortune did it again. Our Perfect Storm is a friends-to-lovers romance that hits you right in the chest. Watching George and Frankie meet as eight-year-olds builds this deep emotional foundation that makes everything that follows absolutely devastating. The character development is genuinely excellent — you feel the full weight of their history. But Frankie got on my nerves more than once, and George, baby, if you had just said “I’m in love with you” we could’ve skipped the heartbreak and gone straight to the love story. The yearning and quiet restraint make this story ache in the best way , and the Tofino setting is the perfect backdrop for all that slow-burn longing. If you’re a friends-to-lovers girlie who doesn’t mind yelling at the pages a little, this one’s for you.
