One Perfect Couple

Harkening to Agatha Christie’s classic And Then There Were None, this high-tension and ingenious thriller follows five couples trapped on a storm-swept island as a killer stalks among them—from Ruth Ware, the New York Times bestselling author who “is turning out to be as ingenious and indefatigable as the Queen of Crime” (The Washington Post).

Barbara's pick.
A novel of surviving a tropical storm (and other elements). A combo of And There Were None... and Lord Of The Flies.
I could totally see this as a movie,
I enjoyed the almost Naked and alone mixed with real life survivor and crazy monsoon weather. Great idea and easy read
3.6
One Perfect Couple is a chaotic, thrilling ride that blends the glamour of reality TV with the terror of a survival nightmare. Ruth Ware masterfully builds tension as five couples are stranded on a remote island where alliances crumble, power shifts violently, and danger lurks behind every decision. I loved the twisty drama and how quickly the façade of “paradise” unraveled into a gripping fight for survival. Dark, atmospheric, and impossible to put down - this is reality TV at its deadliest.
A group of young adults sign up to go to a beautiful island in Southeast Asia to participate in a reality TV show. The idea of the show is to set up challenges and each week, one person is eliminated. However, when they get to the island, they find most of the infrastructure is rudimentary at best, and there is minimal staff. Lyla's boyfriend, Nico, is the first one voted off the show, and is sent by ship back to the mainland. However, a brutal storm appears, and two people are killed. They don't know what happened to Nico, Baz, the director, and the other staff who were aboard "Over Easy" who apparently were caught in the storm. There is one radio and all attempts at communication fail. This book then becomes "The Lord of the Flies" where everyone is scrambling to survive on limited supplies. Conor, a powerfully built, bur arrogant man, takes control and not everyone is pleased. Dissension and arguments ensue and soon more people are dying.
I didn't love the reality TV aspect of the book, but after the storm I found I could not put down the book. It became compelling and I needed to see how it all would play out. If you like a thriller, with a bit of horror, you'll like this book. It is not great literature, but a fast-paced thriller by a popular author.
