Book Two!

Loved book one so I was excited to start book two of the Eve Trilogy , Once and I was NOT disappointed!

At the close of book one, Eve has finally made it to Califia - a safe haven for women. And while she had to leave Caleb behind promising to find him again one day, she's safe from the King's guard and the wild for the first time in a long time. Life should be steady again, but it never is. Eve receives word that Caleb is in trouble and she has to find him. He saved her when she needed it most, she has to save him. Venturing back out into the wild again the King's guard is on her in a snap. Their desire to take her captive hasn't diminished, and once Eve is inside the city walls, she learns why. The distressing secret she comes to know about her past is almost too much to take in, particularly the impact it will have on her future. #thestruggleisreal

Anna Carey recreates the same sense of urgency in book two delving deep into mystery, romance, and suspense. The reader meets several new characters, Charles for instance, that will steal the reader's heart whether they were supposed to or not. She does a good job of not making a love triangle too cheeky and that's a talent in YA. Looking forward to book three - don't let me down Anna!

I may have been too harsh on the first one. This series is fine.
I think book two events could have been smushed into book one and three.

There's a lot of boring scenes that feel unnecessary.
