Don't go into this book expecting it to be like Noelle W. Ihli's other books. I enjoyed the historical aspect of this fictional story based on true events, despite this being a difficult story to tell. Clearly, it's important to tell this story. However, parts of this story were difficult to swallow. I think I had a hard time connecting with the characters, but I can't tell if there's anything else that impacted this story for me. It didn't exactly deliver like I was hoping it would. But it was still a good time.
None Left to Tell is a gut-wrenching, sobering read. Ihli does an impactful and incredible job of grounding this story in its true-story roots—the "based on a true story" element was both educational and deeply moving. It’s a heavy, powerful account that feels incredibly respectful to the real events.
My only minor gripe was the pacing; it felt a bit slow in certain stretches, but the emotional payoff and the sheer intensity of the narrative more than made up for it. If you’re a fan of thrillers that leave a lasting impact, don’t miss this one.

The email promoting the book from the author had me very intrigued that I had to read it. This piece of history is not one I knew prior to reading this book and so glad I took the time. Reading the Afterword is sounds like Noelle was truly meant to write this book. This is such a sad part of history that seems to still not want the true nature of what happened come to light however I believe Noelle did a great job portraying it in a story that makes you want to know what happened.
