When she reluctantly agrees to work with him to uncover the most shocking story they have ever come across, explosive secrets are revealed and danger and passion begin to rise.

I struggled through this book. I wanted to love it because of my love for the author. It felt too wordy at times. I can't count how often I had to look up a word. I usually like books that can teach me new words, but this was just too much. If you choose to read, keep a dictionary or a thesaurus nearby. I felt like the story didn't REALLY start until over halfway through the book. It dragged for so long, so unnecessarily. It also should've come with a trigger warning, but that wasn't "a thing" in the early 2000s. It bothered me how pushy Gabriel was!!!!!!!!!! He kept following her around, practically forced her to work with him, touched her without consent, repeatedly asking her out... She said no to his advances multiple times. I get that she wanted him and that her inner voice wanted to give in, BUT SHE SAID NO!!!! REPEATEDLY!!!!!!!! And he never backed off. Then at the end she's "in love"????? Their "love story" is incredibly problematic. Gabriel was a nightmare to me. I hated that Erin ultimately chose to be with him. I hope the rest of Abrams' books isn't written like this. This book makes me not want to pick up another by her, especially with how triggering it was.
