True love is at stake in this charming, debut romantic comedy.
Cassie Greenberg loves being an artist, but it’s a tough way to make a living. On the brink of eviction, she’s desperate when she finds a too-good-to-be-true apartment in a beautiful Chicago neighborhood. Cassie knows there has to be a catch—only someone with a secret to hide would rent out a room for that price.
Of course, her new roommate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel. He also leaves Cassie heart-melting notes around the apartment, cares about her art, and asks about her day. And he doesn’t look half bad shirtless, on the rare occasions they’re both home and awake. But when Cassie finds bags of blood in the fridge that definitely weren’t there earlier, Frederick has to come clean...
Cassie’s sexy new roommate is a vampire. And he has a proposition for her.

This was a really fun and cute read! Going into it, know that there is not much risk and is mainly just vibes, then you will have a great time!
If you are looking for a lighthearted read I definitely recommend. There were a few parts that had me laughing out loud
I didnât think I would like this book like AT ALL. I stood corrected though, send me a Fredrick J. Fitzwilliam!
This was a cute, paranormal, vampire romance. It was different from what Iâve seen in terms of paranormal romance because it wasnât a dark fantasy setting. Frederick is a vampire seeking a roommate to help him learn how to live in the 21st century. Obviously, he doesnât state in the Craigslist listing that heâs a vampire but he does list a shockingly low rent for a Chicago brownstone. Which leads Cassie, a struggling artist about to be evicted, to apply for the rented room.
This book was basically a contemporary, roommate, forced proximity romance but with a vampire thrown in. For me, it was a quirky, fast, and enjoyable read that had me giggling at a few spots. Overall, 3.5 stars.

Was this cliché? Yes. Was it contrived? Yes. Was it cheesy? Yes, and I enjoyed every slice of cheese this book had to offer. It's like a Disney Channel Original Movie that's aged 20+ years and includes a spicy scene. There is minimal angst, the smallest of stakes, several worldbuilding questions left unanswered, and just a dab of spookiness. The author clearly likes their vampires as clean and bloodless as possible, and loves Chicago. The audiobook narrator did a good job, a middle area between reading totally flatly and injecting personality to the text.
Content Warnings:
Moderate: Confinement, Sexual content, and Kidnapping
Minor: Death, Blood, Murder, and Alcohol
