I love Hercule Poirot mysteries and this is one of the best. It has made into movies and I’ve seen many of them, but the book still has an element that can’t quite be captured in movie form. Agatha Christie sure knew how to create book magic.
I never really got into the detective mystery genre, so my rating is just how I felt while reading it. I think that it started a little slow, and knowing that any small detail could be important draws a lot of focus for the slow moving components (before the murder has taken place). But once the mystery begins, I was really enthralled. More than mysterious, I felt the story had a quirkiness to it that made it light and fun.
Classic of its genre and a perfectly pleasant read, though not life-changing.
crazy good
This is my second Agatha Christie book and I love that her novels are always straight-forward, easy to read, and--even through her novels always contain a large cast of characters--they are easy to decipher between. This one kept me guessing until the end!
