Lucky (Picador Classic)

I will start by saying that this is a well written book and contains some shocking and brutal experiences that the author has been brave enough to share. What is difficult for me is that whilst at the time of writing the author believed the perpetrator to have been found, it has since been discovered that a man was falsely imprisoned for 18 years. That is also shocking and brutal. I would recommend that before reading or purchasing this book that research is looked at, it won’t ruin the outcome of the book as it’s shared as to what happens, but it will inform the reader. It’s clearly very difficult once a book is already in print as there’s no control over where it goes and no way to amend it. I personally feel ethically challenged about handing the book on without that knowledge being passed on also. It is desperately sad that the author is still in a position of not knowing who her attacker was or him having been brought to justice.
